She wasn’t just a mentor but a captivating figure, a magical muse, inspiring a journey that would evolve from the pursuit of a career in chemical engineering to dressing a constellation of women including Gayle King, Yvonne Orji and Danai Gurira.

Following his work on design teams at contemporary brands like Tory Burch, Vera Wang, Victoria’s Secret, American Rag, Washington continues to build his namesake label in New York City weaving his personal experiences as well as his fascination with African cultures into a singular luxury lifestyle brand.
